The pneumococcal vaccine is a safe and effective way to reduce your risk. Our pharmacy offers private pneumococcal vaccination for adults and children who are not covered by the NHS programme.

About the Vaccine
There are two types of pneumococcal vaccine available.
- PCV13 (Prevenar 13) - protects against 13 strains of pneumococcal bacteria
- PPV23 (Pneumovax) - protects against 23 strains and is recommended for adults at risk
- Given as a single injection in the upper arm
- Side effects are usually mild: soreness at the injection site, mild fever
